Book Project Jump Start

One of the best parts of reading a book is the connection between reader and author. The connection might be a shared experience, memory or emotion. The story might have changed your world view, or made you consider a perspective you had never thought of. Maybe you learned something new, or are now curious about something you had never thought of before.
Through words, we can touch something deeper within ourselves.

Here's a chance to earn a point for your classroom via a book project. Write a letter to the author of one of the nominated books. Let them know why their book made a difference. Here are the details:

  • Write your letter via Google Docs and share it with me (with edit privileges so I can fix typos.)
  • Express to the author how his or her book made a difference to you. Go deeper than "I really liked it!" Why? What was the connection? What did you learn? What new perspective do you now have?
  • Use proper grammar and punctuation.
  • I will send your letters to the authors. Who knows, maybe you will get a reply!
